As the Assistant Production Manager, you lead, together with the Production Manager, the production team at the Herent plant in charge of producing and delivering malt according to customer specifications and in conformance with all relevant Cargill and BU policies and procedures.
The Assistant Production Manager supervises all elevator and malt house operations at the plant, ensuring all employees are properly trained in Cargill policies and procedures as well as all production process procedures and employee safety.
Performance of production is measured by key performance indicators. Via continuous improvement we expect overall performance in quality, safety and plant efficiency increases.
This position although primarily Monday to Friday does require after hours call ins and periodic weekend shifts.
You lead and monitor daily production activities and set all daily production parameters with responsibility including off shifts and weekends.
You report progress to Production Manager and participate in customer and production meetings.
Inspect plant areas for safety and sanitation and report necessary needs to the Production Manager.
You assess training and development needs for blue collars (production operators and silo operators) and executes on an established training plan.
You replace the Production Manager in absence.
You process troubleshooting including water use, energy consumption, yield, and performing miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
You champion, support and role model (food) safety programs and practices throughout operations in partnership with the Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, EHS Manager and Plant Manager.
You review and measure performance ensuring successes and deviations are acknowledged and addressed.
You integrate in the weekend service in Herent to do the production tour.
Master’s Degree in Bio-Chemical Engineering, Agronomical / Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, Malting / Brewing or equivalent related field
From school leavers up to a couple of years practical working experience
Experience in malting and brewing or comparable food related industry is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence people with a willingness to manage conflict
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Languages : Dutch, English and French
Ability to make quick decisions and manage priorities in a timely manner
Able to proactively identify and solve problems
Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude
High energy levels. Action oriented. Willingness to take responsibility, accountability and initiative
Proven experience in prioritizing work and meeting deadlines
Flexibility; able to cope with fast changes within a growing company
Creativity and innovative approach in building and / or improving systems and processes
Malting processing knowledge is a benefit
