For his / her purchase portfolio the selected candidate will have to acquire related market knowledge, execute and apply sourcing strategies, manage the assigned purchase portfolio, conduct negotiations and implement contracts within corporate purchasing and Solvay guidelines based on a clear contract negotiation mandate.
This person with directly manage the EMEA Packaging Buyers team built on 3 people.
Business Partnering :
First point of contact for the EMEA based GBU’s for Packaging related matters.
Collect, research and analyze the packaging material demands and needs of GBUs and integrate them into Category Strategies and projects.
Coordinate and lead internal project teams to ensure timely completion of goals and sourcing strategies.
Interact with Supply Chain Directors, Heads of Purchasing and Site Buyers in the GBU’s affected by and / or involved with the category.
Participate in GBU Dashboard meetings as required.
People Management :
Manages and develops a team of 3 packaging category buyers
Will follow market trends related to commercial, innovative, sustainable, regulatory (legal) and industry leading technologies and standards to ensure competitiveness;
becoming a Market Expert for all assigned commodity groups in EMEA.
Will stay current on information regarding key suppliers and competitors.
Responsible for integrating the above information into the development of Category Strategies.
Responsible for the implementation of assigned Category Strategies
Identify commodity projects and develop strategies with appropriate GBU personnel to design effective collaborative or commercial savings projects in spend areas of responsibility
Monitor and respond, if required, to business’ compliance and satisfaction with negotiated preferred supplier contracts.
Employ and foster growth in the use of e-tools.
Contracts & Negotiations :
Develop RFQs / RFPs and initiate sourcing strategies based on results of market analysis, emerging trends and proven technologies all in line with the various business objectives of Solvay.
Support and lead major negotiations of packaging materials purchase by consolidating supplier base, rationalization and optimization of packaging material specification
Responsible for the contracts which bring most competitive and sustainable conditions as well as added value to Solvay
Education and Experience
Master’s or Bachelor's Degree in Purchasing, Business, Finance, Economics or Supply Chain is a must.
5-7 years of purchasing experience related to the purchase of a variety of different packaging commodities (i.e. IBC, FIBC, Drums, corrugated materials, polystryrene, etc) within a chemical or refinery industry.
Broad based understanding and experience negotiating contracts for packaging.
Strong business / commercial experience in conducting purchasing negotiations, maintaining good business relationships and establishing strategic alliances.
Having been exposed to an international and multicultural environment is essential.
