Category Manager

Huntsman have a rare opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to work as part of our Corporate Purchasing team. The role is ideal for an experienced Commercial or Purchasing professional, with a background in a technical role in the chemical industry highly advantageous.

Reporting to the Senior Purchasing Manager you will manage the Feedstock category for Corporate Purchasing, including utilities.

You will be responsible for areas including maximizing profit, improving supplier reliability, supporting plant efficiency improvements and category management.

You will also manage the development of market intelligence and purchasing strategies for Feedstock, Utilities and Industrial Gases for the European Huntsman businesses.

Additionally, as the Category Manager, you will :

Purchase of Feedstock and Utilities

  • Complete strategic sourcing management for the categories with focus on TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), taking into account the specific business requirements.
  • Determine, develop and deploy vision and approve plans for the categories lead Buyer for specific Corporate Projects.
  • Negotiate and conclude contracts.
  • Lead or support cross-functional and cross-regional teams, with a focus on early buy-in of business stakeholders.
  • Be accountable for the implementation and communication of global and regional contracts.
  • Execute value tracking’, define budgets and complete budget follow up for global and regional contracts.
  • Be responsible for commercial supplier interaction with key suppliers.
  • Complete follow up reporting, contract management and KPI’s.
  • Define and execute (for relevant categories) : Purchasing strategySupplier segmentationInternal Stakeholder satisfaction improvement actionsContract optimization actionsSupplier performance evaluation and improvement actionsComplaint monitoring
  • Market / Process Intelligence

  • Maintain and develop a high level of market intelligence relating to fundamental market drivers for major material streams including Natural Gas, Chlorine, Ammonia and Catalysts, delivering concise senior management reports.
  • You will also :

  • Value Delivery cost down Deliver on-going annual savings as agreed through the annual tracker process.Achieve savings by understanding the markets and developing strategic options including maximising the use of global, regional and business specific synergies, as well as conducting a professional commercial purchasing job.
  • Business Communication and Engagements Communicate within Huntsman to enhance the corporate understanding of matters relating to Feedstock, Energy, Utilities and Industrial Gases.
  • Participate in business acquisitions and corporate projects as required.

    Requirements :

  • This position requires a Master degree or equivalent through experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years Purchasing or Commercial experience, with a background in a technical field in the Chemical industry being an advantage.
  • Proven success in executing major commercial negotiations and contract developments.
  • An enthusiasm to work within a diverse, multicultural team.
  • Fluent in English, with any other European languages being an asset.
  • Capability of handling strategic partnerships as well as commodities.
  • Strong results orientation.
  • Flexibility to travel throughout Europe for site and supplier visits, approximately 25%.
