Job Purpose :
The Finance and Controlling department plays a key role in a small, business-focused central team for the Ventures Division (Brussels based).
With specific responsibility for a portfolio of international divisional operations, the incumbent will be acting as the architect of a broad range of financial and management reporting to aid business decision-
making. The objective will be to provide the quality and relevance of reporting and advice necessary to drive the performance of the Ventures division.
The focus will be on business partnering and adding value to the commercial and manufacturing operations. He / She will also be the custodian of collating and coordinating the financial accounts;
ensuring they are compliant with Group principles and IFRS.
There will be a strong change and project agenda associated with the role of the division, which is :
focus on non-core activities or companies with no clear path to leadership,
revisit their strategy and to achieve the greatest potential return for Aliaxis.
Driving such an agenda means that there may be key business restructuring and review projects taking place, which requires financial expertise to identify and drive improvements in Finance processes and systems, and introduce consistency and best practice across the Division.
Key responsibilities :
Core responsibilities associated with the role are the monthly, quarterly, half-year and year-end reporting, forecasting, budgeting and closing of accounts.
There will also be plenty of ad-hoc analysis around transfer pricing, performance benchmarking, capex approvals, etc.
Reporting & Performance Management :
Co-ordinate the development and production of consolidated monthly management accounts and reports for operational managers;
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Division's accounting records and financial systems;
Review the Division's balance sheet ensuring completeness and accuracy;
Provide relevant and timely financial information to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the Division's strategy and objectives.
Budgeting & Forecasting :
Preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans, and continued monitoring and review of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances;
Undertake gap analysis of performance versus budget and forecast.
Financial Management & Controls :
Proactively detect, identify and explore opportunities for efficiencies and savings;
Effectively monitor the non-cash working capital components of the Division with specific attention to receivables, inventories, payables and capital expenditure;
Contribute to the review of the Division's internal control environments in line with Group practice;
Play an active role in assisting management in the risk assessment process and embedding a risk management culture throughout the organisation.
Major Deliverables :
Monthly management reporting, half-yearly and year-end close;
Annual budget, quarterly forecasting reporting and presentations;
Ad hoc studies and analyses on performance management.
Simplification and fixed costs management : further roll out Cost Transformation Program / Dynamic Resources Planning;
Support (procurement) organization to deliver budgeted net savings improve processes, tracking and reporting;
Improve liquidity headroom to finance acquisitions;
Support and participate to M&A activities, if any;
Feasibility studies around strategic growth opportunities;
Projects around the improvement of contribution and margin.

Required Experience and Knowledge :
Master degree in accounting, finance, business or management;
International or multi-site accounting experience; strong knowledge and capability in IFRS / US GAAP;
Absolute minimum of 5 years’ experience in a finance role - preferable within a B2B manufacturing and distribution environment.
Functional competencies :
Strong track record in reporting, general accounting matters and the preparation of monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual accounts;
Sound FP&A experience (budget, forecasting, variance analysis etc);
An Audit background would be advantageous;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills - the ability to coach and guide others without direct line authority;
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service;
A rigorous and reliable attention to details;
Able to identify trends and issues and challenge in a constructive way;
Capable of working independently - practical and sees things 'as they are';
Project management skills and problem solving ability;
Sound computer proficiency and comfortable working with reporting and consolidation packages (eg Cognos, Hyperion);
Full business fluency in oral and written English.
