Your internship

The Business Unit Fillings & Decors will start an internal project on cleaner label and sugar reduction for our range of water based RTU fillings & decorations.

This is a unique opportunity for you to get introduced to the different aspects of applied R&D. Under the supervision of your tutor, you will support the team R&D team of the Business Unit Fillings & Decors and assist them in looking for alternatives for additives, with a focus on alternatives of TiO2 and in looking for solutions for sugarreduction.

Content of the mission :

  • Selection of cleaner label alternatives for TiO2 Modified starches Emulsifiers Rank them based on the type (fiber, carbohydrate, protein, ) and if needed sub-
  • type. Based on literature study and / or supplier information, select those alternative types that will have the biggest chance on success in water-

    based products. Select from each type or sub-type minimum 1 or 2 representative raw materials to test.

  • Selection of sugar alternatives : Rank them based on the type (fiber, carbohydrate, protein, ) and if needed sub-type.
  • Based on literature study and / or supplier information, select those alternative types that will have the biggest chance on success in water-

    based products. Select from each type or sub-type minimum 1 or 2 representative raw materials to test.

  • Test the selected alternatives in well-defined products and evaluate the influence on physical and chemical parameters like bake stability, viscosity, brix, pH, water activity, and on the costs of the semi-finished good.
  • Adapt if needed the production process to obtain the best functionality of the alternatives
  • Your profile

  • You are following a master degree in Food technology or equivalent.
  • You are eager to learn more about R&D in an applied research environment.
  • You have good communication, presentation, planning and organization skills.
  • You speak fluently English (every other language is an asset).
  • You are a good communicator, you have a hands-on spirit and are dynamic and you can work autonomous.
  • You like patisserie and desserts.
  • Our offer

    An interesting internship in a dynamic team in an international working environment. You can now apply for a 6 months to 8 months internship starting ideally asap.

    Internship place : either Groot-Bijgaarden (Brussels) or Lummen.
