Your role & work environment
The Brussels based Client Coverage team for the Nordic region is responsible for origination and development of ING’s global relationships with Scandinavian multinational companies.
It is the main counterpart within ING for the client’s financial management, keeping regular contacts with CEO s and CFO s, Group Treasurers and Corporate Finance Directors.
Being part of the Nordic team, the Transaction Services Sales team focuses on consulting and generating new transaction banking business from clients and prospects.
Transaction Services combines ING s Payments and Cash Management, Working Capital Solutions and Trade Finance products and is a core business line of ING Wholesale Banking.
With a strong presence in many European countries, ING has developed into a leading player in Transaction Banking in Europe.
Key challenge of this role is to further build ING s position in daily transaction banking business in the Nordic region, with a focus on cash management and trade solutions, ranging from traditional trade finance products to supply chain finance and other working capital solutions.
Your key responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing a team of Brussels based specialists, as well as a portfolio of key clients and prospects.
You lead, coach and motivate the team members, challenging and empowering them to increase cross sell into the various products and countries in the ING network;
You will be responsible for sales results, both in terms of revenue growth and growth of market share;
Commercial activities focus on consulting and generating new business in close cooperation with the Coverage Bankers for the Nordic region and other specialist teams in ING s international network.
You are responsible for the overall sales process, which includes e.g. assessing customer needs, giving strategic recommendations, issuance of proposals and negotiating pricing, and following up on the implementation.
You will manage a portfolio of own clients and prospects;
You will support the team to structure and negotiate large-scale, complex, international cash and trade solutions based on the in-depth analysis of the clients’ business and financial needs;
Additionally, you share client feedback and requirements to improve the product offering, via direct contact with Senior Management and Product Management departments.

is willing to travel a minimum of 5 days each month to visit clients in the Scandinavian countries;
is an engaging manager and communicator;
has a master’s degree in economics or comparable;
has a relevant experience in sales, preferably in the Nordic region, and a proven track record in growing the business;
has at least 3 5 years of relevant working experience in the transaction banking industry. Strong experience in origination of (cross-border) payments and cash management solutions is preferential, next to a good understanding of trade solutions ranging from Trade Finance to Working Capital Solutions;
has seniority to be a sparring partner for Group Treasurers of multinational corporations;
is fluent in English and French or Dutch, while proficiency in any Scandinavian language is an advantage.
