Varian’s Global Logistics team is looking for an experienced Logistics Operations Manager to manage the logistics provider running Varian’s EMEIA Distribution Center (EDC) for finished goods, and transportation providers for road, air and ocean freight.
The EDC is a new operation Varian will be implementing in 2021. We’re currently in the process of selecting the logistics provider that will run the EDC on Varian’s behalf.
This role will lead the operational implementation of the EDC, and to manage the performance of the logistics providers to ensure the delivery performance our customers require with optimal efficiency.
Success will be measured by the timely delivery of products to Varian’s customers at optimal cost.The successful candidate will hire a small team of analysts to assist with the management of the logistics providers and transactions required to manage the inventory in the EDC and supply Varian’s customers, factories, and DCs in other regions.
Role Responsibilities : Develop and maintain metrics relating to logistics operations, including on time delivery performance, warehouse operations and inventory accuracy, warehouse and transportation costDrive 3PL operational performance to agreed KPIs, manage improvement plans where requiredDrive ongoing process improvement with logistics providers and cross functional Varian teams, once EDC fully operationalImplement new processes for new business units, factories and products added to Varian’s portfolioRepresent EMEIA Logistics in cross functional projectsDevelop and maintain logistics processes and escalation proceduresMonitor 3PL customs operations in bonded warehouse and destination country clearanceSkills & Experience Required : Experience managing third party logistics providers or working for third party logistics providers providing similar services to multinational customers is essentialWorking knowledge of global logistics within multinational companies : a strong operational understanding aligned with customer requirementsStakeholder management and influencing skillsAbility, competence, and confidence in managing cross-functional projectsCan manage multiple tasks accurately and simultaneously in a fast-paced environmentAbility, competence, and confidence to lead people.
