The position is located in the UN Regional Information Centre for Western Europe in Brussels, with the Desk for Italy, the Holy See, San Marino and Malta.
UNICs are the principal sources of information about the United Nations system in the countries where they are located, they are also responsible for promoting greater public understanding of and support for the aims and activities of the United Nations by disseminating information on the work of the Organization to people everywhere, especially in developing countries.
The internship is for six (6) months at maximum and UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35-40 hours) under the direct supervision of the Italian Desk Officer of UNRIC.
The Intern may be responsible for the following duties :
shares credit for team accomplishments and accepts joint responsibility for team shortcomings.
meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.
demonstrates openness in sharing information and keeping people informed.
To qualify for a UN internship, the following conditions must be met : 1. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements :
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and 4.
Have the ability to successfully interact within a multicultural, multilingual working context and be understanding and tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English and Italian is required.

United Nations Considerations
According to article 101, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations, the paramount consideration in the employment of the staff is the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.

Candidates who have committed crimes other than minor traffic offences may not be considered for employment.
