The RAMS Engineer position refers to RS Safety and RAM Organization and reports directly to the RAM and Safety Traction Leader of Charleroi.

OVERAL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The RAM & SAFETY Engineer will have to perform and take in charge RAM & Safety activities for dedicated Projects or products developed in Charleroi (as per CENELEC Standard) by providing RAM analysis, Safety Assessment (analysis of design solutions and or changes) and Safety analysis (FMECA, FTA, SSHA, ,HZL ) up to the Safety Case.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

To perform Safety analysis & reliability analysis, as defined into our RAM & SAFETY Plan and in accordance with EN50126 Standard.

Mainly focus on the following analysis : intrinsic and service affecting failure Reliability prediction, Functional and Product FMECA, Quantitative Safety Analysis using fault tree tool for the demonstration phase, management and closure of Hazard Log, SAFETY Case for the dedicated sub-systems : Traction, Auxiliary Converter, Sub-station HESOP Converter.

Validation of the Engineering Design Product Development for reliability and Safety aspect.

Ensure that Safety / Reliability studies are still valid whatever the changes configuration management of the sub-systems

Qualifications & Skills :

EDUCATION

Engineering Degree / Master Degree included RAM & Safety modules

DESIDRED KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE :

Professional RAM & Safety Engineering background is request i.e. between 5 to 10 years’ experience old in the managing of a complete V cycle of a Project / Product development from the specification phase up to the validation phase (EN50126 Standard application).

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE

Mandatory :

Able to perform Dysfunctional analysis and degraded mode Analysis with Hardware and Software contributors

Able to perform Reliability calculation prediction using dedicated mission profile & units

Mastery of the latest versions of safety standards CENELEC 50126-50128-50657-50129.

Mastery of the V-cycle of software and hardware development in the context of control electronics.

Involvement & Validation of SAFETY SIL2 functions, covered either by hardware or by software for the dedicated sub-systems.

Mastery of classic safety methodologies such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMECA), Safety Related Item list (SRIL), Fault Tree analysis (FTA).

Proficiency in reading and analyze power electrical diagrams & scheme - ability to perform critical re-reading and diagram & electrical scheme optimization (redundancy, voters, etc.).

Proficiency in understanding feared events and handling the concepts of MTBF, MTBSF, FPMK (millions of Km), FPMH (millions of hours) to be managed at train level or at subsystem level.

FMECA & Fault Tree tools well known and used.

Management and closure of exported constraints, safety requirements towards other businesses and towards internal / external Customers.

Language skills : French & English will be your day to day languages : able to write English RAM and Safety documentation / Call or face to face meeting to be done in English.

Nice to have :

Knowledge of RAM Commander tools (for reliability calculations) and ARALIA tool (for fault trees)

Experience in project management related to safety studies & up to a product certification with an Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) in interface

LOCATION

Charleroi with occasional Business trip to assist Project Manager on specific RAM or Safety items.
