The Global Food Safety Manager leads the Food Safety, Microbiology and Sanitation programs of Barry Callebaut. S / he initiates, develops and maintains relevant Standards and ensures they are continuously improved and in line with GSFI and customer expectations.

S / he supports the Regions and Sites to achieve implementation and drive compliance to these Standards. S / he supports the business with expertise and by sharing of best practices in order to protect our customers, brands, partners, employees and relevant other stakeholders.

1. Develop and continuously improve BC food safety standards

  • Developing, improving and maintaining global food safety standards (including microbiology and sanitation) based on industry best practices, GSFI standards and customer requirements
  • Identify areas for improvement and share best practices, based on an analysis of main issues arising in factories and in food safety in general
  • 2. Drive, audit and review compliance to BC food safety standards

  • Drive the implementation of BC and GSFI standards and procedures
  • Coordinate the gap assessment in the regions against global BC food safety Standards and GSFI global certification in order to achieve compliance across all sites.
  • Work with Operations / Engineering / Maintenance to address audit issues and agreeing with local and regional teams on corrective actions, including food safety investments.
  • Work across Quality, OSCO and Engineering in compliance summary reporting
  • 3. Support Implementation of new or improved standards

  • Develop and provide training in BC food safety standards and requirements
  • Supporting facilities for compliance with key customer food safety requirements and BC standards.
  • Support with expertise in food safety issues and crisis situations. Act as back Global Crisis Coordinator
  • Identify and communicate food safety risks to the sites, and providing advice on food safety programs..

  • Master in Food Science or equivalent
  • Fluent in English, other languages an asset
  • 7+ years of experience in Quality and Food Safety in an international food, pharmaceutical or feed company
  • Knowledge of Food Safety management, HACCP management, Hygienic, GMPs (Hygiene practices, Sanitation, Environmental Monitoring, etc), GFSI certification schemes (BRC, FSSC 22000).
  • Continuous Improvement experience and skills an asset
