You will be responsible for the work package Regulatory uptake’ within the European research project environmentAL Toxicology of chEmical mixtuRes through aN innovATIVE platform based on aged cardiac tissue model (ALTERNATIVE).
You will join the service Risk and Health Impact Assessment. You will collaborate with different international partners of the ALTERNATIVE project and in particular with the Medical University of Innsbruck.
ALTERNATIVE will develop an innovative platform able to detect the cardiotoxicity of chemicals and their biotransformation products.
The novel platform will enable regulators and industry to identify, quantify and prevent cardiotoxic co-exposures to industrial chemicals and pharmaceuticals in a cost-effective way.
The platform will consist of a three-dimensional tissue engineering in-vitro model mimicking the human cardiac tissue, coupled with a reliable, high-throughput monitoring system based on multi-omics analyses, and integrated into a Machine Learning (ML) risk assessment tool.
Within the project, Sciensano is responsible for ensuring that the developed platform meets the regulatory needs and to stimulate its regulatory uptake.
To this extent, the platform will be developed within the adverse outcome pathway framework and its place within an integrated approach for testing an assessment will be defined.
Your tasks will include
PhD in Toxicology.
Experience with the AOP concept and / or IATA development is an asset.
Willing to work independently in the context of the research project and to collaborate with different European partners.
Interest in new approach methodologies.
Excellent knowledge of English
