Thales Belgium SA, Belgium competence center of Thales, is a company located on 2 sites, one in Tubize (near Brussels) and the other one in Herstal (near Liège).

Thales Belgium, which employs more than 230 collaborators, is specialized in the design, development and supply of critical information systems for customers in the sectors of Defense, Security (including Cyber), Transport and Aerospace.

Thales Belgium SA (Tubize site) is looking for a :

Mission :

Thales Belgium "Mechanical, Electrical Layouting and Prototyping Group" is responsible for the support of the design and the development of hardware products for both Military and Civil applications incorporating mechanical, analogue RF, digital and signal processing technologies.

The Group is also responsible for the technical support of the production activities located on Tubize site. The Group is currently looking for a Component Engineer for products development and production activities.

Main Responsibilities :

  • You will be under the responsibility of the Senior component Engineer to perform the selection of mechanical and electronic components that are used in our products, based upon Thales PPL (Preferred part list) and Component Information System.
  • You assist and support design engineers in the selection of parts that best fit their requirements. You review all requests for new components to assure that a current part can satisfy the requirements.

    You participate in design reviews for the purpose of component selection and standardization.

  • You maintain the APL and assign new inventory part numbers (standard titles for components, maintain current descriptions to the standard format, flag obsolete parts, consolidate duplicate parts and reduces inventory).
  • In cooperation with the purchasing department you will be in contact with multiple suppliers covering a broad range of technologies.
  • You select multiple sources of supply and maintain the Approved Vendors List.

  • You will act as a support for the purchase of components used during the prototype phase of the internal developments.
  • You will work inside an enthusiast multi-discipline engineering team which will give you the opportunity to evolve and enlarge your skills.
  • As member of a multinational company you will meet international engineers and experts of the group.
  • Your work will be performed taking into account high level international standards and in house quality procedures (ISO and Civil Aviation standards).
  • Profile : Education


  • Master or Bachelor in Electronics or equivalent through experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in hardware and mechanical development
  • The candidate should be fluent in French, Dutch or English. Strong knowledge of French and English is required.
  • Knowledge and skills

  • Knowledge of a range of components that are used in electronic and mechanical design, both analog and digital applications.
  • Experience in circuit design as well as mechanical design is a plus.
  • An experience in a circuit board and logistics assembly line is a plus.

  • Wide interest in technology. Innovative, creative and avid learner.
  • Flexible and capable of handling multiple tasks in parallel.
  • Microsoft Office : MS Excel is mandatory.
