We are looking for you, an ambitious student (m / f), currently studying for a Master degree, to support our Dow Construction Chemicals business, who is interested in developing new construction chemical solutions to improve construction materials , to be located in Seneffe, Belgium .

The department that will welcome you is Dow Construction Chemicals. We propose solutions based on different chemistries (Cellulose ethers, acrylics, redispersible powders, silicone) to improve construction materials.
This can range from cement based, gypsum based, protective coatings for various building materials’ surfaces or even wood impregnation.
Dow Construction Chemicals is developing new innovative solutions to improve durability, appearance or ease of manufacturing of construction materials.
Dow Construction Chemicals has labs in Germany, Switzerland and Belgium, which offer the opportunity to interact and collaborate with colleagues in other countries.
The goal of the proposed project is to support and drive our expansion of silicone and acrylic additives for the construction materials.
In collaboration with the Dow Construction Chemical team, formulation work is conducted in the European R&D lab (Seneffe with collaboration with labs located in Germany and Switzerland).
This project includes formulation work of silicone or acrylic-based water repellents for construction application as well as application testing on different construction materials to confirm the performance of the prototypes.
The construction materials which will be used to assess performance of silicone or acrylic additives can range from wood, mortar or gypsum.
Typical project will involve formulation work to assess impact of new components, new combination or new delivery systems.
Formulation prepared in the lab will be tested for assessing their performance. Iteration process will be used to improve the targeted performances.
You are currently studying for a Master's Degree or equivalent in Chemistry or Material Science.
You have a good working knowledge of English. French would be beneficial.
You have an interest in product development work (new product, new applications).

The candidate should demonstrate a passion for chemistry and applying innovative ideas into real applications, in the real world.
You can start in January / February 2021 for a period of at least 4 months (exact timing to be discussed).
You will be remunerated if it's applicable in your local legislation.
