Laborelec's MaterialsTechnology Department specializes in the materials-related issues encounteredby power plants .Our primary task is to boost power plant reliability by analyzing andpreventing damage, determining the life span of critical components to develop anoptimal repair or replacement plan, and drawing up an effective repair andrefurbishment policy.

Our work involves analyzing specific problems and failurecases in the field, and carrying out projects which focus on generic problems.

Your mission

  • Asa (Junior) Material Engineer, you work on the realization of activities like, thefollow-up of lab analysis’s, the elaboration of specifications for inspections,the realization of onsite measurements at customer sites on industrialequipment such as boilers, steam turbines, gas turbines,
  • Youwill work on solving tangible problems and carry out longer-term projects, offeringthe opportunity to build up practical experience in the field and to enhancetechnical knowledge in one or more areas;
  • As the single point of contact for thecustomer you will handle questions relating to technical consultancy (e.g.expertise, service life studies, incident analyses) : examining customerqueries, collecting the required technical information, defining a customeroriented offer,selecting the required(lab) analyses, interpreting and presenting results to the client, and draftingreports;
  • Youwill work transversally with different departments and expertise
  • Youare willing to perform basic NDT inspections for which you can follow thenecessary training and pass the required qualifications.
  • Youwill work for conventional power plants, nuclear power plants and industrialinstallations, around the world;
  • Dependingon your preferences and your particular talents, you could progress to a topexpert role, a multidisciplinary or project management oriented role, or anoperational role with technical management aspects, within Laborelec or the widerENGIE group.
  • Areyou passionate about technology, and considering a career as an expert?

  • Youare a qualified engineer in materials engineering or mechanical with a keeninterest or additional training in materials engineering
  • Youare passionate about technology and eager to learn
  • You havestrong analytical skills, you are realistic and have a pragmatic approach;
  • You shareyour knowledge, and look for solutions with colleagues;
  • Youare flexible and are willing to travel to carry out work on-site, including in nuclearinstallations, with international trips of about a week;
  • You arecustomer-oriented, creative and able to organize your own work;
  • Youhave high ethical standards and an inherent safety-conscious attitude;
  • Youare fluent in Dutch, French and English, or could become fluent quickly;
  • Nuclearclearance is an advantage.
