Laborelec's Materials Technology Department specializes in materials-related issues encounteredby power plants .Our primary task is to boost power plant reliability by analyzing andpreventing damage, determining the life span of critical components to developan optimal repair or replacement plan, and drawing up an effective repair andrefurbishment policy.

Our work involves analyzing specific problems and failurecases in the field, and carrying out projects which focus on generic problems.

Your mission

  • Asa (Junior) Specialist, you will work on solving tangible problems and carry outlonger-term projects, offering the opportunity to build up practical experiencein the field and to enhance technical knowledge in one or more areas;
  • Youwill essentially work for nuclear power plants, in addition to conventionalplants and industrial installations around the world;
  • You will work on non-metallicmaterials such as polymers, concrete, coatings and claddings;
  • Asthe single point of contact for the customer, you will be in charge of definingthe scope of a field intervention, coordinating the required lab analysis, interpretingresults, and producing a report including recommendations for presentation tothe customer;
  • Dependingon your preferences and your particular talents, you could progress to a topexpert role, a multidisciplinary or project management oriented role, or anoperational role with technical management aspects, within Laborelec or the widerENGIE group.
  • Qualifications

    Areyou passionate about technology, and considering a career as an expert?

  • You have an engineering degree in chemistry or materials science, a PhD in materials science or the equivalent by experience;
  • Knowledge of insulating materials for electrical engineering is a plus;
  • Knowledge of analytic techniques (FTIR, SEM-EDX, DSC, TGA, ) and physical property testing is a plus;
  • Adegree or experience in coatings, claddings or concrete is an advantage;
  • Youare passionate about technology;
  • You havestrong analytical skills, you are realistic and have a pragmatic approach;
  • You areat ease interacting with personnel in the field;
  • You shareyour knowledge, and look for solutions with colleagues;
  • Youare flexible and are willing to travel to carry out work on-site, including innuclear installations, with international trips one of about a week;
  • You arecustomer-oriented, creative and capable of solving complex problems, proposinghigh-added-value innovative solutions;
  • Youhave high ethical standards and an inherent safety-conscious attitude;
  • Youare fluent in Dutch, French and English, or could become fluent quickly;
  • Nuclearclearance is an advantage.
