You will be working in the Maes group of the research division Organic Synthesis (ORSY) of the Department of Chemistry. The Maes group is a partner in the Centre of Excellence ( www.
casch.be ) and the Valorization Platform SusChemA ( www.uantwerpen.be / en / rg / sustainable-chemistry-antwerpen / ) of the University of Antwerp.
Your research project will deal with the development of new synthetic methodologies to perform C-H functionalization of (partly saturated) heteroaromatic compounds .
Your research fits in a bilateral research project (www.fwo.be / media / 1023859 / weblijst-call-2019-bilat-rusland.pdf) funded by FWO (Research Foundation Flanders) and RSF (Russian Science Foundation).
Candidate profile :
The ideal candidate for this position will have a PhD in organic synthesis (experience with purification techniques and structural characterization of organic molecules).
Experience with C-H functionalization and organometallic chemistry is an advantage. The ability to work in a team, interest to be involved in a bilateral research project, as well as good communication / writing skills and a good mastery of the English language are essential.
Additional info : The University of Antwerp offers you a contract of 1 year (which can be extended upon mutual agreement).
Relevant experience will be taken into account. The selected candidate is expected to begin in January 2021.
