Four years ago, we created draftLine to be the engine for data-driven creativity at Anheuser-Busch. As such, this candidate needs to be both wildly right brain and extremely left brain.

You are the conduit from the creative organization into the brand teams. You need to be able to foster a culture of creativity for the in-house agency, draftLine, while also being able to engage with VPs of brands about their key business challenges in an informed, thoughtful way.

You need to not be afraid of digging into the numbers and understanding the business results. But you need to crave an understanding of how to run big brands and the business side of AB, while loving toggling back to your core creative nature.

It is crucial you balance the art with the science. You will be asked to analyze data and metrics on brands and brand performance and use that data to inform strategic approach to creative.

You should help guide the creative team to ensure they’re delivering against those data insights.

EQ is one of the single most important qualities in an ECD candidate. You are the advocate and the toughest critic for the creative team depending on the moment and what they need to make the work stronger.

You also need to read the room with brand stakeholders and understand their vulnerabilities and aspirations and ensure the work is delivering against their most essential needs.

You are pivoting around a range of personalities and environments, boardroom to brewery, and at the core you must be able to forge genuine, authentic human connections with each of these diverse stakeholders across the company.
