Reporting to the C&B Global organization, The Manager of Total Rewards for Europe-Africa will be responsible for a range of critical HR capabilities and services.

He / she will establish and maintain relationships across the HR function and the business, providing expertise to facilitate the resolution of any complex business issues within assigned areas and promote knowledge sharing within the function.

This position may be based in Brussels Belgium or London UK.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be both strategic and operational, act as a subject matter expert, and provide counsel to Senior HR Business Partners and their Business Leaders on Total Rewards disciplines for the region.

He / she should possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in total rewards and strategic HR in an industrial environment and regional organization.

He / she should possess a strong working knowledge of compensation & benefits, principles of talent management and mergers & acquisitions.

The successful candidate will approach the role from a business perspective and be a strategic thinker with the ability to conceptualize, design, and develop new approaches to total rewards solutions in support regional business goals and strategies.

This individual must have the capability to operate in a diverse environment from a culture and business maturity standpoint and work well under pressure.

This individual must have significant M&A experience and be comfortable operating in both developed and stable as well as a growth environment.

This leader must have a strong analytical mindset and ability to make data-informed decisions. A strong strategic and consultative mindset is critical for success in this role as well as a solid hand’s on approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Applying current and emerging compensation, benefits and talent management approaches, and best practices that will attract, motivate and retain top talent across the regional organization
  • Demonstrating creativity and innovation to properly align the total rewards structure with the regional business’ strategy and goals to drive desired business results while balancing overall investment
  • Connecting total rewards strategies and initiatives with talent management (performance management, career pathing, recognition and mobility) activities
  • Functioning as a key contributor on all merger and integration activity from an HR perspective
  • Leveraging data and analytics to improve decision making and drive the proper initiatives
  • Presenting ideas and recommendations at all levels within the organization in order to gain approval of programs / process changes
  • Remaining informed of benefit, compensation, regulatory, compliance, legislative and market issues and trends combined with a clear understanding of the regional business impact and proposing actions to mitigate business risk
  • Education and Experience

  • University degree in Human Resources preferred supplemented by compensation certifications or additional education
  • Demonstrated experience in management and sales incentive design, leadership development & talent management principles and M&A integration
  • Experience in designing and delivering benefits and compensation programs in multiple countries with strong experience with Eastern European countries including Russia
  • Familiar & direct operational experience with full implementation lifecycle of compensation benchmarking, job grading, and development of job hierarchies
  • Experience in partnering with brokers to manage benefit design and incorporating best practices for a diverse, regional workforce
  • Experience in benefits administration platform (i.e. Darwin)
  • Proven ability to understand the financial drivers within the organization and deploy programs to accelerate growth

    Business Acumen / Strategic Thinking : The successful candidate must be extremely well versed in all elements of management, sales and broad-based compensation and compensation planning, knowledge of benefits, HR strategy, talent management, and a thorough knowledge of current best practices.

    He / she must grasp the financial and economic drivers of the overall business and understand how that translates to the total rewards needs of the company.

    In addition, the successful candidate must be able to think beyond financial and economic drivers in order to create compensation packages that will attract, retain, and motivate the best talent.

    Communication / Managerial Presence : The successful candidate must have confidence and credibility, effectively influence others, and constructively handle sensitive or emotional issues.

    He / she must have strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present and discuss complex information in a way that persuades others and enhances understanding.

    Leading a small Team and Building Relationships : The successful candidate must have effective people management skills and should have a demonstrated history of attracting, developing and retaining a high-performance work team dedicated to professional excellence.

    He / she will have a track record of building trust across the organization and must be capable of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility, and partnering / influencing at all levels across a broad range of individuals.

    Results Orientation : The successful candidate will have a track record of driving initiatives to closure. He / she will get results that have a positive and direct impact on business performance and will hold him / herself and others accountable for achieving goals in line with the company’s values.

    Must have a hands-on approach to the function, translate the strategy of the regional organization into actionable and quantitative plans, and act as a key change agent in leading the organization to reach aggressive goals and milestones.

    Interpersonal Acumen : The successful candidate needs to uphold well-articulated core values and principles and hold others to the same standard.

    He / she must express their own views candidly while listening to and respecting the views of others. Must be savvy and pragmatic in their approach towards effecting change.
