Located on the River Humber, C.RO Ports Killingholme Ltd is part of a larger group of Roll-on Roll-off shipping services and ports offering stevedoring services at a number of locations around Europe.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone with significant technical / electrical knowledge and experience along with strong people management skills to manage two workshops at our site.
The workshops look after our fleet of port plant and machinery (including Terberg Tugmasters, Reachstackers and Fork Lift Trucks) as well as maintenance of slave equipment including skeletal trailers, mafis and translifters.
The duties and responsibilities include effective and efficient management of resources to ensure that plant and equipment are maintained appropriately to regular servicing schedules and that repairs are carried out as and when necessary.
This includes ensuring appropriate stock levels and contact with external service / parts providers and management of associated costs.
Health and safety is high priority therefore this role requires ensuring all policies, procedures and standards are adhered to, as well as preparation of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Regular reports to Port management are required in relation to vehicle availability and costs and spends on all equipment and assets.
The successful candidate will have a relevant mechanical / electrical engineering degree or equivalent trade qualification, as well as proven experience of managing people.
Strong communication skills are important as well as excellent IT skills in order to prepare written and statistical reports and the ability to interrogate company systems for required data.
The ability to negotiate is also essential to enable sourcing of best products / services at lowest cost. Experience of working in a Port / similar environment would be preferred as well as experience of heavy lift machinery.
The Port operates 24 / 7 therefore although the core working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 0800-1700hrs, you must be flexible to adapt to business priorities and requirements on occasion.
An IOSH Managing Safely’ certificate or similar would also be desirable.
