About the RoleSWIFT is looking for a TMT / IP lawyer for its EMEA legal team. SWIFT has set itself a challenging strategy, which makes it become active in new markets and customer segments.

Moreover, the regulatory environment becomes ever more important. SWIFT’s Legal and Compliance Department actively contributes to the deployment of the company’s strategy in particular and the company’s activities and projects in general.

Legal’s contribution mainly consists of expert legal advice and innovative contracting at the interesting cross-roads of IT and financial law and regulation.

In our strive for continuous improvement, we are currently looking for a talented, open-minded and creative legal counsel to be based at the company’s headquarters.

This person will actively contribute to the accomplishment of the mission of the Legal and Compliance department and of the company's activities.

Your function Job summary Reporting to the Head of the EMEA legal team, you will be based in La Hulpe, Belgium (Brussels area).

The team works on a fully international basis, providing advisory, transactional and dispute resolution related assistance focusing on the rapidly evolving SWIFT offerings and the EMEA region.

You will be working on cutting-edge matters covering all aspects of SWIFT’s extended and innovative offering to our customers, including central banks, financial market infrastructures and global transaction banks.

You will be at the forefront of innovative technologies such as business intelligence, artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud, etc.

You will have a solid experience to advise on all aspects of information and communication technologies, including licensing, sourcing and other related projects, e-business, telecoms, cybersecurity, etc.

You will also actively monitor upcoming regulatory developments and enforcement trends that are relevant to the company and its offerings.

You will join an international, collaborative and tight-knit Legal & Compliance team. Some travel may be required. Some key responsibilities You will lead and coordinate the development and negotiation of the company standard legal documentation You will work directly and collaborate with the businesses you will support for a broad range of legal and regulatory matters with a special focus on TMT / IP matters.

You will establish yourself as their reliable and trusted advisor and will provide strategic input on those matters you are supporting them You will identify and advise on legal risks and related controls and mitigating actions You will provide day-to-day guidance on relevant upcoming regulatory developments and enforcement trends and, as the case may be, advise on the necessary implementation measures You will develop and maintain excellent relationships with business stakeholders and customers In the unlikely event of a dispute, you will employ creative approaches to resolving issues Do you have what it takes?

Basic qualifications A law degree, ideally combined with an additional legal education or professional experience in a different jurisdiction preferably in the TMT / IP law fields.

Knowledge of Belgian law is a plus. Expertise in competition law or corporate Belgian law are nice to have. Fluent in English.

Other languages broadly spoken in the EMEA region are a plus.
