Mission Overview : Identification and investigation of the environmental risks of ArcelorMittal Group production activities.

Development of best practices and benchmarking activities. Support and advice sites facing difficult environmental files.

description of Tasks

oFollow up of environmental aspects of production activities throughout the ArcelorMittal Group with focus on identifying potential risks :

otracking of the evolution of environmental compliance throughout the group including the issuing of periodic compliance reports

oevaluate the risks

oContribute to the definition, implementation and follow up of actions of common interest in support of strategic and policy choices made on group level

oPerformance of site audits with regard different environmental ics :

omonitoring and monitoring practices, environmental performance

odefinition, implementation and follow up of actions of common interest in support of strategic and policy choices made on Group level

oIndividualized technical advice and support for sites facing difficult environmental files

oSupport M&A on environmental Due Diligences

oFostering the development and information exchange on best practices relying on a network of environmental experts


The mission of the Global Environment & CO2 Strategy team is

1) Identify and investigate environmental risks

2) Monitor environmental performance

3) Advice and support the sites on environmental related issues

4) Manage environmental related regulatory aspects

The function is part of the Risk Management Axis of the Global Environment & CO2 Strategy team. Close cooperation and coordination with the other members of the team is needed.

The function is located in Brussels.

Frequent travel required worldwide ( 50% time)

Minimum Applicant Attribute

Education / Qualification : Master

Subject : Environment, chemical or other Language and Proficiency Level : English Advanced

Other Minimum Requirements :

education & EXPERIENCE

oTechnical education (Engineering Master or equivalent) Environment, chemical or other)

oGood knowledge of upstream steel productions and / or Environmental technologies

oPlant experience within operations in environment, management of primary operations (coke, sinter, BF) or Engineering of major environmental projects

oExperience in auditing

oGood understanding of the Environmental aspects of the management of production facilities (technical, legal, scientific )

oExperience with environmental monitoring technologies and evaluation methods


oThe ability to interpret and analyse environmental permits

  • oManagement, leadership and people skills;
  • oGood verbal and written communicative skills (English) are required;

    oHigh degree of self-motivation and a proactive approach to work

    oCreative, out of the box thinker

    oTime flexibility and ability to work under pressure
