2 - Position description
The Faculteit Geneeskunde en Farmacie , Department Basis (bio)-medische wetenschappen , is looking for a postdoctoral researcher .
More concretely your work package contains :
You will conduct research within a project researching early poor development of human embryos;
You will investigate early human embryos with techniques such as single cell genomics, transcriptomics and confocal microscopy;
You will use human embryonic stem cells as a model for the development of new techniques such as CRISPR / Cas9, and to make stem-cell derived synthetic embryos;
For this function, our Brussels Health Campus (Jette) will serve as your home base.
3 - Profile
What do we expect from you?
You've attained a diploma of doctor in medical sciences, life sciences or equivalent;
You are a good candidate to obtain external funding (eg FWO) for your postdoc mandate;
You have a sound scientific file with solid background in early embryology and stem cell biology;
You have methodological skills mainly in the area of embryo manipulation, confocal microscopy, stem cell culture and differentiation, molecular biology;
Interpretation of data; knowledge of bio-informatics (transcriptomics, genomics) is a plus;
You will be integrated in an international team, and therefore good knowledge of (academic) English is a condition;
You can organize your own work efficiently and you will report on a regular basis to your PI;
You will assist the PIs of the group in project management, budgeting and obtaining funding. You are for instance expected to apply for resources for your own position, eg as an FWO postdoc mandate;
You can present your work in your own group, as well as in international meetings;
You supervise on a daily basis a small group of PhD students and help them to achieve their goals;
You can make decisions independently, and will carry out those decisions, without loosing sight of the feedback of your PIs;
You are focused on your aims and your results;
You possess the ability to solve problems;
4 - Offer
Are you going to be our new colleague?
You’ll be offered a contract , for an assignment of 1 FTE , for 12 months (extendable, on condition of the positive evaluation of the research activities), with planned starting date 01 / 10 / 2021 .
You’ll receive a salary linked to one of the scales set by the government.
