Your key responsibilities and challenges are :

  • Project Leader for Product Developments :
  • As Project Leader you develop new margarines and fats for our industrial sales channel (B2B). These projects can be customer demands (re-

    active), innovations (pro-active) or cost / quality upgrades.

  • As project leader you are responsible for the overall coordination and planning of your projects. This implies guiding a functional team (R&D, marketing, commercials, customers, production, ).
  • The development process includes; You discuss and guard the project scope (define the desired product characteristics) and report on the project status regularly with all project stakeholders.

    You translate the project goal into a technical product definition. You plan, follow up and interpret lab analysis. You plan and follow up pilot trials and industrial scale-

    up trials in production. You organize bakery application trials (puff pastry, viennoiserie, cakes, cremes, ) with our technicians to evaluate product performance.

    You initiate cost price quotations and draft technical data sheets. You collect and manage all necessary data and inform departments accordingly (production, quality, masterdata, ) in order to launch the new product.

  • Product expert in Industrial margarines :
  • As a product expert for Industrial margarines you become a reference contact for the Industry sales channel.

  • You build up an indepth recipe and ingredient knowledge of our portfolio. You know and have a good understanding of the production plant capabilities and processing conditions (fat crystallization) You follow up competitor products and market trends.
  • As an expert you give technical support in case of launching new innovations or complaints. If needed also on location at the customer.

    You organize or assist in customer visits to Vandemoortele and visits to the customer. You are in close contact with the bakery technicians and have good knowledge and understanding of the applications on test bakery and industrial scale.

    You build up specific technical knowledge through contacts with suppliers & customers, internal networking and literature, patents, seminars, institutes etc.

    About you

  • You hold a Master degree in Engineering (Bio-engineering, industrial engineering, etc.).
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in product development within the food industry. Experience with margarines & fats and / or crystallization is a strong asset.
  • Also experience with industrial production of bakery products (puff pastry, viennoiserie, cake, cream, ) is a plus.
  • You like to take ownership and are able to operate as a teamleader on major projects or participate in such a team as member.
  • You’re able to work in an autonomous way.
  • You have commercial feeling.
  • You are proactive, energetic and dare to challenge others. At the same time, you are pragmatic, problem-solving and looking for initiative.
  • As a food lover, you are passionate by food.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, in English, French and Dutch.
  • You are willing to travel 10% of your time (short trips).
  • For this exciting role you will be working at our R&D Centre based in Izegem
