The "Plant Layout & Integration" group, which is part of the Engineering Management Department of the NUCLEAR Business Line, provides engineering and consulting services in :
Technical Integration : issuing multidisciplinary synthesis reports and ensuring technical consistency of Nuclear project deliverables and technical excellence through coordination of the technical disciplines and overall nuclear expertise;
Layout : integration of input from different technical disciplines and coordination of BIM / PIM Modellers / Draftsmen to achieve an optimum spatial arrangement for a new facility or modifications to existing plants, taking into account all project constraints including safety, constructability, economics, operations, maintenance, etc ;
Drafting : development of models and drawings of technical solutions (BIM / PIM / 3D model, 2D implantation drawings, Civil Works guide drawings, Site Plot Plans, isometrics, PID, etc).
The key competences of the Plant Layout & Integration Group are related to :
Design assessment of Generation III / III+ reactors, Generation IV reactors and Small Modular Reactor (SMR) designs;
Engineering and Consulting services for Nuclear New Build projects (e.g. siting, licensing, design, layout, Owner requirements, Bid Invitation Specifications, EPC Contract Development);
Design and construction of complex plant modifications and new facilities at operating Nuclear Power Plant units (e.g.
spent fuel storage facilities, waste management facilities, Long Term Operation and Post-Fukushima modifications, Containment Filter Venting System, new bunkerised facilities);
Design and construction of miscellaneous complex facilities in the nuclear sector (e.g. D&D projects, proton therapy centers, research reactors);
Layout development and Drafting for :
o Nuclear projects (see hereabove);
o Gas Projects (e.g. new LNG Terminals);
o Conventional Power projects (Combined Cycle Power Plants, Wind Turbines, Biomass Power Plants, Coal Fired Power Plants, Diesel Engine Power Plants) and Industry projects (e.
g. pharmaceutical industry).
Open PIM / BIM
BIM is a collaboration process involving the generation and management of an integrated digital representation (BIM Models) of physical (CAD) and functional characteristics (Data / Documents) of a Building / Facility, its Systems, Structures and Components.
BIM refers to Building Information Modeling and PIM to Plant Information Modeling . BIM and PIM software have been historically designed with very different purposes.
BIM software (e.g. REVIT, ARCHICAD, TEKLA) was created for the design of building and architecture projects. PIM software (e.
g. OPENPLANT, E3D (PDMS), SMARTPLANT) was created for the design of plants with complex processes and systems. BIM and PIM software has progressively extended its fields of use.
OPEN PIM is a Tractebel initiative part of TE Innovation Lab opening gateways between closed’ PIM (Plant) and BIM (Building) Information Modelling software and other vital 3D applications.
It paves the way for seamless data exchange. Avoiding adopting a new, costly, still closed’ integrated system, the OPEN PIM team focus on making our already fit-for-purpose engineering software work better together.
The solution is made possible using an Open BIM approach; essentially adopting the IFC exchange format (a neutral, open’ file format developed by the International BuildingSMART organisation) to develop the data-centric, viewer and user interface platform for all applications with licence-free / open source libraries.
As Open BIM / IFC allows the exchange of project data from all different closed’ or open’ softwares, with some smart Python and C++ coding applied to open new gateways;
PIM to BIM / BIM to SIM (Simulation) / Point Cloud SCAN to BIM a fully integrated, collaborative, common data environment will be achieved.
As part of the OPEN PIM development program your will develop BIM tools and methods for Tractebel and its Nuclear Business Line :
Design and implement BIM add-ins and gateways improving interoperability of 3D, CAD, BIM, point cloud, engineering / computation software, etc;
Develop solutions working as an expert Python, C#, C++ programmer, writing scalable, reusable, and maintainable code;
Work closely with other programmers and engineers to develop robust software components, integrating the software with other teams to diagnose and fix software problems;
Use object-oriented programming languages, web services, client and server application development processes, and internet technologies to construct new BIM software systems;
Build software that follows industry-standard design patterns, development methodologies, and deployment models.
You have a master’s degree in engineering, or equivalent
You have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience;
You are attracted by high-level technical expertise and you are eager to learn;
You are interested in programming; and have knowledge of Python
You are a team player
You are dynamic and flexible;
You are autonomous, you take initiatives and assume responsibilities;
Previous experience or education in nuclear is an asset;
You are fluent in English, French and / or Dutch;
You are ready to travel for short assignments abroad.
