The Operational Purchaser is responsible for all operational steps of the purchasing process. This function is responsible for procuring components, subcontracted material and 3rd party goods, keeping procurement parameters up-to-date.

The Operational Purchaser ensure on time delivery of good quality parts and quantities, while keeping in mind the inventory balance.

The Operational Purchaser will have the following responsibilities :

  • Create, review, update and maintain purchase orders until they are correctly invoiced by the supplier
  • Ensure up-to-date procurement parameters in ERP system
  • Responsible for on-time delivery of raw material, outsourced material, intercompany & 3rd party goods
  • Interface with Order Management team to prioritize purchasing activities and to negotiate lead times
  • Interface with Strategic Purchasing team to prioritize inventory reduction activities, to escalate supplier issues and to propose sourcing improvement possibilities
  • Interface with Quality team to create and handle return orders
  • Interface with Logistics team to handle shipping methods and forwarding issues
  • Communicate potential delays to Order Management team
  • Evaluate and share supplier evaluations with Strategic Purchasing team in order to achieve good supplier performance
  • Analyze and optimize inventory

  • Frame agreement quantity in close alignment with strategic purchaser
  • Defie re-order points (ROP) and safety stock (SS) according to ADBS supply chain policies
  • Maintain availability check and safety time parameters
  • Create purchase order according to agreed strategy
  • Create subcontracting purchase orders
  • Create return purchase order based on quality return
  • Follow up and solve blocked payments to ensure on time payment according to payment terms
  • Pull delivery
  • Chase order confirmations and update ERP system
  • Chase delivery of goods and update ERP system
  • Follow up delivery of goods
  • Take the lead in goods reception issues
  • Adjust PO quantity
  • Contact supplier if paperwork is missing
  • Quality issues
  • Manage BOM errors
  • Request R&D to correct
  • Chase material affected by BOM error
  • Inventory
  • Manage leftover stock of raw material, outsourced material and 3rd party goods
  • Manage stock correction
  • Investigate on double components (SKU reduction)
  • The perfect candidate for the role of Operational Purchaser is / has :

  • a Bachelor's degree
  • a strong knowledge of supply chain and operational purchasing
  • the ability to gather and analyze data and provide meaningful information
  • a good knowledge of sourcing and vendor management
  • a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the field of procurement (preferably including industrial and international procurement) with knowledge and experience in all aspects of the procurement process and logistics management
  • fluent in English, fluency in French and / or Dutch is a plus
  • a good knowledge of ERP-sytems (SAP knowledge is a plus)
