Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to the market understanding, design and efficiency and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition.

Within GEM, the Structured Power Origination desk is part of the new Business Platform (BP) Structuring & Origination Power.
The main mission of the Structured Power Origination desk is to develop GEM’s trading activities by developing, originating and implementing high added value structured power deals across the power value change in Europe.
This is a front office role, working in a dynamic trading floor environment and in close collaboration with trading, quants, risk (credit, market, methodologies, etc.
and other origination desks.
Main Activities :
As a Structured Power Originator your key responsibilities will be :
Develop the external client business for structured power products (prospecting, building commercial pipeline and closing deals) and maintain the existing client flow, focusing on :
Exotic power products for thermal assets (cleans spark / dark spread options, tolling agreements, etc.), renewable assets and consumers (virtual pump storages, decentralized flex solutions, Asian options, etc.
and;Illiquid power products (long term power).
Develop structured power products, pulling GEM’s product catalogue in order to meet client’s interests and transforming the offer concept into a product that can be represented in GEM risk management systems.
Develop and analyse decentralized flex solutions (CHPs, electric batteries, electrolysers, etc.) to support the growth of GEM’s renewable power portfolio in Europe.
Price structured power products in close collaboration with trading.
Support trading, risk, quant teams and IT in the development / improvement of pricing methodologies and models.
Support other origination desks in structuring and pricing structured power deals for their clients.
Comply with GEM internal procedures and compliance policies.

Brussels, with occasional travels within Europe.
Education and professional background :
5-10 years of professional experience and proven track record in (developing) structured power origination.
Master degree in a quantitative discipline (engineering, economics, finance, etc.).
Hard skills :
Strong knowledge of the power markets in Europe, structured power products and option pricing (Greeks).
Strong analytical skills.
Experience in decentralized flex solutions (CHPs, electric batteries, electrolysers, etc.).
Well connected with various power market players (industrials, utilities, funds, banks, trading houses, etc.)
Proficiency with IT tools, in particular Excel (and VBA). Experience in Python or any other programming language is a plus.
Soft skills :
Result-oriented hands-on approach and strong commercial drive.
Reliable, rigorous and curious.
Stress resilient and ability to operate in a demanding environment.
Team player with strong interpersonal skills, communicate easily (oral and written) and ability to interact / cooperate with a variety of different profiles (clients, traders, quants, sales, support functions, etc.)).
Fluent in English, any other European language is a plus.
