BECAREFUL ( B elgian consortium for E nhanCed s A fety & comfo R t p E rception of F uture a U tonomous vehic L es) is a Flemish research projectfunded by VLAIO.
Four industrial partners (IVEX, XenomatiX, Septentrio andSiemens) work together with two universities, i.e. KU Leuven MECO and TUDarmstadt.
The specific focus of the TESTRTD team of SISW is a) on new data capturing and system monitoring capabilitiesb) data analysis and system diagnosis methods specific for perceived safety andcomfort and c) verification and validation requirements towards comfortable andsafe AVs using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), Human-in-the-Loop (HuiL) andVehicle-in-the-Loop (ViL) environments.
The candidate will use his / herexpertise in data mining and machine learning, in combination with a backgroundin automated driving.
He / she will research novel algorithms to detect drivingpatterns, events, and passenger comfort-related metrics based on on-road datameasurements.
The outputs of those algorithms will enable the efficientindexing and searching of large-scale driving datasets. Parameter distributionsassociated to common driving scenarios will be derived to obtain deeperinsights in those datasets.
The candidate will define and implement prototypesusing tools such as Python, C, C++, databases, etc.
The candidate will interactwith the project partners and with peers within the RTD team to plan andcoordinate the ongoing research activities.
The candidate will contributeto reporting of project results towards the funding agencies as well asinternal reporting for dissemination of project results to project engineersand ensure alignment with business objectives.
The candidate will be workingas research engineer in the research team of the Test division in Leuven.
