Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. It employs 1,300 people around the world. Context : The DR Operations Manager will work in the GEM Business Unit. Specifically, the DR Operations Manager will be part of GEM / ETS / NextFlex.
Demand Response (DR) is the ability of sites to change on demand how they use electricity, rewarded by specific programmes or tariffs.
Given the expansion of decentralised and renewable generation throughout Europe, imbalances between generation and consumption are more and more difficult to predict.
Demand Response supports energy transition by contributing to avoid these imbalances, so possible black-outs, and securing the European grids.
Within Global Energy Management (GEM), ETS develops and implements solutions to accelerate energy transition, and NextFlex is the ETS team dedicated to DR.
NextFlex, active for years in France, Belgium and Holland, manages a portfolio of 600 MW and more than 400 sites Role : Internal interfaces : GEM teams External interfaces : KiWi Power, technology providers, hardware installers You manage the local Operations coordinators and report directly to the NextFlex Manager Main Activities : NextFlex business consists in : 1 : identifying and qualifying DR assets on I&C sites (Industrial & Commercial) 2 : offering to I&C sites and signing up DR contracts 3 : implementing the DR management solution on sites 4 : dispatching the DR assets when there is market opportunities 5 : following up of signed contracts 6 : performance reporting to sites and payments NextFlex is an agile and digital team, born 5 years ago through ENGIE Incubation process, which has kept the entrepreneurial mindset.
The team uses IT solutions to manage all the dataflows with markets (biddings, nominations ) and sites (notifications, activations, performance reports, earning statements ).
To manage market dataflows, NextFlex uses tools developed by GEM IT. Market dataflows management is the scope of the Market Manager.
To manage site dataflows, the team uses a platform provided by KiWi Power. To dispatch flexible capacities automatically, NextFlex also implements on site a hardware solution ( box ) connected to the asset.
In order to ensure NextFlex operational excellence, Operations Manager will be in charge of : all developments related to site dataflows management (specifications and follow-up) all hardware developments and installation processes efficiency and reliability of the related IT solutions payment of flexible sites This will done in close relationship with KiWi Power, the local Operations coordinators and the Market Manager.
All developments are outsourced. Be part of the energy transition within an innovative team! Work location : You are either based in Brussels or Paris.
Travels : Regular trips to Brussels (if located in Paris) or Paris (if located in Brussels), and London (max 3 days / month) Education and professional background : University graduate or equivalent A few years similar work experience Hard skills : New technologies and IT enthusiast Some technical knowledge on electricity would be a plus Soft skills : Doer Customer centric Autonomous Languages : Fluent in French and English is a must Knowledge of Dutch is a plus
