In the context of the operation and lifetime extension of power plants (in Belgium and abroad), lots of equipment have to be replaced and will be found obsolete.
Sustainable replacement has to be found and tested to conform to nuclear qualification requirements. Lifetime extension plans have to be defined to demo
nstrate the capacity of the equipment to go beyond their original lifetime. Furthermore, design upgrade projects required qualification of components to guarantee the safe operation of the plant.
As an Alten Belgium consultant in the Engineering industry, you will support the utilities for the identification of the obsolete components (through various methods, including contacts with original supplier, stock).
So you will be in charge to research of substitute the products for those obsolete equipment. After that, you need to validate the new design between the original and current instrument.
You will be in charge to evaluate the different options for re-stocking.
You draft qualification reports, specifications and technical requisition files for purchasing of instrumentation equipment.
You evaluate and choose the best test laboratories to use and follow up of qualification tests.
As you love to be in contact with other people, you manage the relationship with the suppliers, to evaluate the alternative solutions.
Another important task will be to conduct an audit of the technical performance of the suppliers and qualified the equipment in Belgium and abroad.
This position is crucial, as you will be in charge of presenting and defending hardware qualification in front of the Client and the Belgian nuclear Safety Authority.
You have a completed master’s degree in Civil or Industrial Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in safety sector (nuclear, industry, railways, aeronautics).
You have experiences in electricity and / or instrumentation, quality assurances. You have already in the past worked in an electrical environment, have knowledge in nuclear power plant electrical and systems.
You are known to be particularly careful and you treat installations as they were your home. You try to maintain the equipment as best as you can to avoid discarding them.
You are a problem solver, especially when looking for the best sustainable options. Being flexible, having a good resistance to challenging environment, being curious and autonomous while taking initiatives and expressing ideas will be an asset for this job.
You have good communication skills in both French, English and / or Dutch while being endowed with an analytical mindset.
