For Janssen Benelux we are looking a Medical Scientific Liaison Dermatology, responsible for providing balanced, objective, scientific information, and education to health care professionals and partners.

You will be communicating the value of our products with understanding of the evolving treatment landscape. The MSL will also provide research support for studies and can optimally communicate clinical trial data on a peer-to-peer basis with a defined audience of external clinical and non-clinical partners.

We expect that the MSL stays up to date on current scientific and treatment landscape trends to become the trusted partner.

As MSL, you build and maintain relationships with health care provider teams. This is a 60% field based role.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Therapeutic area scientific specialist : Continuously update knowledge of products, treatment paradigms, competitive landscape, activities and study data.
  • Identify emerging clinical concepts with potential future implications, and be considered and recognized as a trusted partner.

  • Customer excellence management : Demonstrates ability to build positive relationships. Strategic mapping, development and maintenance of stakeholder network.
  • Executes on an external stakeholder management plan in close collaboration with colleagues in Medical Affairs, GCO, HEMAR, RWE, patient advocacy and other partners.

    Through scientific interactions, champion the medical value of our products, contribute to market access activities, formulary discussions and development of new treatment paradigms and guidelines to benefit patients

  • Proactive and reactive communication of scientific data to stakeholders : Proactive communication of relevant scientific information per strategy and communicate non-promotional general information about our company.
  • Respond to unsolicited scientific queries from customers for approved products and products / indications in development, based on Medical Affairs and Medical Information documents integrating scientific data, and real world evidence, into clinical relevant practice terms to meet customer needs and request

  • Medical education activities : Assist in building medical education programs with scientific third parties to fill identified educational gaps and opportunities.
  • Medical Affairs Leadership and Accountability : Maintain detailed understanding and competence in the following areas : TA and Medical Affairs mission, vision and operating principles;
  • operating company scientific data and objectives, market dynamics and competitive landscape, compliance, corporate policies on appropriate business conduct and ethical behaviour, MAF SOPs and guidelines.

    Provide high quality medical and product training to internal partners. In collaboration with supervisor, develop, implement and take ownership of a personal development plan to improve performance and stimulate personal and professional growth

  • Evidence-generation activities : Demonstrate knowledge of treatment landscape and Janssen company / investigator sponsored clinical trials and competitor landscape to facilitate external-internal research discussions.
  • Work collaboratively within MAF team to identify evidence generation gaps, ensuring communication of key medical insights as appropriate.

    Understand Real World Evidence (RWE) methodologies, identify data needs and opportunities, support protocol development and collaborate with HEMAR / RWE team to engage in discussions with customers to aid in designing and executing RWE projects and / or pragmatic trials

  • Compliance : Ensure all activities are deployed in line with Health Care Business Integrity regulations, and ensure safety reporting requirements (timely AE / PQC reporting) as set out in company policies and SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) are met and appropriately handled when planning / executing projects, developing materials, and contracting vendors.
  • Qualifications

  • Scientific degree : medical doctor, pharmacist or biomedical degree or equivalent experience is required. Understanding of scientific research, clinical trial design / conduct and interpretation of medical data.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills for interaction with external and internal partners. High customer focus with ability to recognize importance of strategic customer interactions as opportunities to become partner of choice for scientific exchange, data generation and landscape solutions.
  • Work in a team and independently with focus on open, transparent and collaborative relationships, aligned on common goals.
  • Coordinate and drive a complex, and constantly changing environment.

  • Confidence to serve as expert regarding scientific information, clinical research activity, healthcare landscape and emerging scientific trends within therapeutic area.
  • Knowledge of general healthcare landscape

  • Languages : Dutch, English, French : have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Computer skills : knowledge of Microsoft Office and use of digital technologies to improve health care delivery
