An exciting opportunity as Director, Business and Sales EMEA . This is a permanent opportunity with Qvella Corporation located in Mechelen, Belgium .

Nature and Scope of Work :

Qvella is a start-up molecular diagnostics company building the infrastructure to field and support transforming products in the microbiology market segment in the coming year.

The Director of Business and Sales will be integral in transforming products of the future, and will participate in a team driven environment with a pioneering spirit.

This position will set up a successful team with a winning spirit. Contribute and execute the business plan to achieve or exceed territory development, growth and drive business revenue through selling instruments and reagents.

Managing and leading a dual sales approach of direct sales and distribution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily :

  • Responsible for hiring and retaining a diverse, highly qualified staff and for providing coaching, growth and personal development.
  • Leading a commercial team with direct and indirect reports; Leading the team by example.
  • Assisting direct sales representatives and distributors with a novel and complex sales process, maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
  • The ability to understand and communicate outcome based economic modeling to justify hospital investment.
  • Understand basic microbiology and molecular diagnostics to understand how Hospitals operate and evaluate their unmet needs.
  • Have an understanding of hospital antimicrobial stewardship, the members of the committee and how to reach them.
  • Identify High Value targets in geographical territories.
  • Develop strategy and individual responsibilities to close sales of all identified High Value targets in direct sales territories;
  • collaborate with distributors to do same.

  • Manage pipeline to ensure timing of closes matches Forecast & Business Plan.
  • Coordinate activity of Clinical Specialists in context of promotion, training and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop relationships with key customers / opinion leaders within defined territories and with distributors in influencing and supporting their efforts.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership with and without authority.
  • Attend industry tradeshows and increase company and product awareness.
  • Other tasks, projects and duties related as may be assigned.
  • Administrative Accountabilities :

  • Manage pipeline, forecast and sales reports.
  • Drive CRM process and compliance for the region.
  • Prepare regional sales forecasts and participate in the determination of market potential and in the preparation of sales expense estimates for the region.
  • Conduct regular Business Reviews, business planning, budget etc.
  • Manage team expenses based on budget and performance.
  • Achieve a minimum forecast accuracy.
  • Participate with sales support / marketing staff members in commercial planning activities such as sales promotion, training, and market research planning and executing.
  • Requires proven, successful leadership skills / experience sufficient to assume the responsibilities of this management position.
  • Qualifications and Requirements :

  • Microbiology knowledge preferred; knowledge of clinical lab operations required.
  • Sales management and or business leadership experience in Healthcare Diagnostics required.
  • Must have had success in manoeuvring in Hospital environment, interacting with various levels within hospital including C-
  • suite and Hospital Administration.

  • Experience with leading an international team of direct sales and distributors, and with commercial operations logistics.
  • Demonstrated abilities in coaching a team to get the best out of the individuals and achieving the higher collective company and team goals.
  • Team player attitude and behaviour : ability to build consensus among team members / collaborate with other team members, and be a leader as well as team player.
  • Excellent organization, communication and presentation skills required.
  • Education : Masters level education in a suitable blend combining science and business suitable for this role is required.

    Preference will be given to those with advanced degrees in both areas.
