We combine the perfect mix between the expertise of providing sustainable solutions to development challenges mainly in developing countries, and the knowledge in diplomacy, governance and communication as illustrated by our recent awards, the Policy Support Facility for the Implementation of EU Foreign Policy (PSF 2019 Worldwide) Lot 1 Public diplomacy, information outreach and organization of events and the Conception, realisation and implementation of a communication policy on the European Union cooperation in Tunisia.

Your role

You will join the expanding business development team and take the responsibility of growing our portfolio of projects in the field of communication and stakeholder management.

Your knowledge of the communication sector will make you very familiar with the portfolio of projects of key EC accounts and notably DG Devco, Near and Comm.

You will be designing strategic approaches and communication methodologies in the context of calls for tenders, and of securing project awards with our clients.

Reporting directly to the Business Development Director and working closely with our Campaign & Digital Strategist, you will be responsible for undertaking all the various tasks related to preparation of commercial offers as well as the tasks related to the recruitment of experts.

You will be required to demonstrate a combination of discipline, flexibility, and precision in all tasks while counting on an established network of experts and partners.

Next to your expertise in growing a portfolio of communication projects, you will ideally have specific experience in delivering expertise on projects’ activities.

You will also be engaged in larger marketing efforts to diversify our clients’ basis in this sector. As bid development manager, your role will require to be able to work as part of a large business development team while being autonomous enough to lead the specific communication portfolio of project opportunities.

As a recognized specialist of business development, your client experience will ideally combine the EC external aid experience with another client (EU 28 DGs, FPI, EIB, EU Parliament, DG COMM, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a business plan, identify and grow the related communication marketing pipeline by identifying project opportunities for key clients;
  • Ensure the marketing and bidding responsibility of a large portfolio of donor-funded projects in the field of communication, including events organisation and management;
  • Implement the STANTEC business development process to deliver first-class, quality offers;
  • Take responsibility for building consortia and collecting business intelligence, in the preparation of both expressions of interest and tender proposals;
  • Take responsibility for drafting proposals;
  • Undertake field missions and engage with clients;
  • Work as communication expert as appropriate on projects.

    Qualifications :

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in communication preferred; we will accept work experience in communication in place of degree;
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a communication consultancy and in a similar function with proven track record of successful proposals (references of the awarded contracts to be submitted with the application);
  • Excellent knowledge of the European Commission procurement procedures;
  • Ideally knowledge and experience with EC Directorate Generals, FPI or another EU Institutions;
  • Commercial judgment and financial management expertise;
  • Ability to interface and coordinate with external consortium partners and experts;
  • Ideally a previous experience as communication expert on project;
  • IT-skills : advanced use of MS Office;
  • Rigour, accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Creativity, open-mindedness and focus on results;
  • Languages : solid written and spoken English (native or near-native level) and ideally French;
  • Work ethics, dynamism and ability to cope with multiple tasks and stressful situations.
