The Industrial function’s role is to help the Solvay Group in safety initiatives and support the group's transformation in operational excellence.
Job Overview and Responsibilities
The Process Automation & Instrumentation Specialist will work in a team-based environment and will be responsible for : In the frame of international construction projects, supporting the engineering and construction project team in the field instrumentation domain including among other activities : - Field instruments and valves :
P&ID reviews with the process team, participation to risk analysis sessions
Selection of instrument technology, issue of datasheets
Supervision and coordination of local engineering contractor in charge of the instrumentation
Supervision of the construction and testing activities for field instrumentation
Industrial Control and Safety systems :
Design of control and safety system architecture and issue of technical specifications
Vendor follow-up, issue of functional specifications and participation to acceptance testing (FAT and SAT)
Technical evaluation of vendor’s bids, technical clarification meetings with vendors
Supporting the GBUs and plants in the troubleshooting of issues related to field instrumentation or industrial systems (diagnostics and proposition for solution / improvement)
Investigating for new technologies / new products
Participate and animate the network of specialists at the Group level and promote good practice
Education and Experience
Education : Master degree in Electro-mechanical engineering (other qualifications are acceptable if compensated by adequate work experience)
Work experience : min 5 years as field instrumentation and / or controls specialist in the chemical or manufacturing industry including maintenance or engineering / construction and start-up activities
Technical knowledge and expertise :
Knowledge in field instrumentation and valves : technology, sizing, specification, installation and testing
Knowledge in Industrial Systems (DCS, SLS and PLC) : knowledge of system architecture and basics on system HW / SW design
Knowledge of the following Industrial Systems products is an advantage :
DCS / SLS : Emerson, Yokogawa and Honeywell
PLC / SCADA : Siemens and Allen Bradley
Knowledge of digital technologies (e.g. wireless) and IT (e.g. cloud computing and virtualization) is an advantage
Knowledge of the chemical and manufacturing industry international standards
Knowledge of the chemical and manufacturing industry automation
Behavioural skills :
