The Sr. Manager, Lab Services EMEA / APAC is accountable for the delivery of the Lab Service / Asset Management strategy to improve regional service delivery, performance, and safety and maximize the value from the assets.

The Lab Services Sr. Manager will provide a competitive advantage to J&J through best in class, safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient asset performance.

This role is accountable for the program delivery through robust vendor management, financial planning, and proactive communications and change.

This role is responsible for managing multiple regions enterprise-wide laboratory services programs; Enterprise Laboratory Instrumentation Services (ELIS), Laboratory Scientific and Support Services, and Asset Redeployment Management Systems (ARMS).

This position is responsible for contributing to the development of the program strategy, while delivering a harmonized strategic approach of Lab Service programs across their regions.

The Sr. Manager will also assess opportunities for the overall lab services experience and lab program implementations and will maximize savings and opportunities for improving the lab efficiencies by leveraging economies of scale, best practices and innovations.

An ideal candidate for this role will have knowledge of laboratory services, program management capabilities, influencing and negotiating skills with cross-functional teams and an understanding of supplier contracts.

Key relationships include the business operating laboratories and vendors to manage Lab Services-related nuances among different geographies and business sectors to ensure successful implementation of the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a Regional outsourced lab services program (ELIS, Site Services and ARMS).
  • Project management and supplier governance for the lab services suppliers at the Regional Level
  • Performing Regional Program and supplier evaluations to maximize savings
  • Deploy enterprise standardization for best practices in compliant lab operations
  • Identifying and implementing consolidated best in class maintenance, calibration services and scientific support services for the region
  • Applying Lean Lab Initiatives and Just In Time / Point of Use laboratory supply plans with lab specific logistics services for the region
  • Creating and communicating metrics to gauge success and track performance for portfolios of lab programs within the region, and alignment with the other Sr.
  • Manager regional leaders in Lab Services

  • Managing the J&J Asset Redeployment Management Program for region by identifying non-used equipment, providing process guidance for sites and supplier level involvement, and help coordinate placing of equipment on asset redeployment networks
  • Developing robust customer relations with key regional laboratory and procurement leaders by gaining and maintaining the respect of the scientific community through engagement
  • Meeting regularly with concerned stakeholders and program Sponsors to review lab service governance, new opportunities and performance metrics
  • Manage regional operational expense budgets, driving cost reduction and cost efficiencies, leveraging resources and optimizing contractor management through consolidation of suppliers and leveraging spend volumes
  • Collaborating with regional business partners and suppliers to ensure seamless delivery of lab services and leverage opportunities where appropriate
  • Drive safety requirements and laboratory standards for GLP, GCP and GMP compliance within established lab programs as appropriate for each site
  • Deploy programs with existing services offerings (Environment, Health & Safety, Maintenance, Site Services) at campus locations within the region
  • Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    Education :

  • University / Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 8 10 years of related experience required
  • Experience in facility management, financial, laboratory, OR asset management required
  • Focused degree in Business, Science, Engineering, or related discipline preferred
  • Familiarity within the facilities and Laboratory environment preferred
  • Experience managing contracts related to multi-site operations preferred
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and team building experience preferred
  • Experience, Skills & Knowledge :

  • Customer Interfaces (Share Points, electronic surveys, electronic reports, etc.)
  • GMP, EHS, compliance, and other regulatory standards

  • Emerging best practices and industry innovations
  • Preferred :

  • Global experience
  • Experience managing complex workstreams
  • Familiarity and / or experience with SQL Database, Client Connect IT, MySQL, general relational databases, network configurations, software contract configurations and terminology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
