Internship for the Spain and Andorra Desk at the United Nations Regional Information Center (UNRIC).
UNRIC represents the United Nations Department of Global Communication in Western Europe, supports the United Nations agencies in Brussels and cooperates with the European institutions.
The Center is organized in nine geographic and thematic areas, covers 21 countries in Western Europe and works in 13 languages.
The Spain and Andorra Desk works together with all the relevant agents of the socities of the two countries - public institutions, Government, private sector, non-governmental organizations, civil society and the media.
Our mission is to inform and involve the Spanish and Spanish-speaking people on major themes and causes of the United Nations.
The Center produces communication materials, supports partners with communications campaigns and events organization and answers questions from the public on all matters related to the Organization and its campaigns.
The Internship lasts 6 months and takes place at the UNRIC office in Brussels. (The internship may take place remotely if sanitary conditions require it).
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of the head of the Spain and Andorra Desk office. The intern reports to the Desk Officer.
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met :

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral English and Spanish is required.
Other languages spoken in Spain and Andorra are desirable.

United Nations Considerations
According to article 101, paragraph 3, of the Charter of the United Nations, the paramount consideration in the employment of the staff is the necessity of securing the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.
Candidates will not be considered for employment with the United Nations if they have committed violations of international human rights law, violations of international humanitarian law, sexual exploitation, sexual abuse, or sexual harassment, or if there are reasonable grounds to believe that they have been involved in the commission of any of these acts.
The term sexual exploitation means any actual or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, differential power, or trust, for sexual purposes, including, but not limited to, profiting monetarily, socially or politically from the sexual exploitation of another.
The term sexual abuse means the actual or threatened physical intrusion of a sexual nature, whether by force or under unequal or coercive conditions.
The term sexual harassment means any unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature that might reasonably be expected or be perceived to cause offence or humiliation, when such conduct interferes with work, is made a condition of employment or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment, and when the gravity of the conduct warrants the termination of the perpetrator’s working relationship.
Candidates who have committed crimes other than minor traffic offences may not be considered for employment.
