Profile : Master degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences or in Biomedical Sciences
The PhD student will assess the impact of transporters and enzymes on drug disposition in the colonic mucosa from healthy volunteers and colorectal cancer patients.
Initially, protein levels of relevant transporters and enzymes will be compared in colonic biopsies of healthy volunteers versus colorectal cancer patients (in collaboration with the University Hospitals Leuven).
The quantification of transporter and enzyme abundance will be performed in collaboration with Uppsala University .
To assess the functionality of transporters and enzymes, the permeability of colonic biopsies for selected model substrates will be assessed in ussing chambers in the presence and in the absence of inhibitors.
