Job Purpose and Impact
The Analyticalmass spectrometry expert conducts chemical, physical and biological analyses using a wide variety of laboratory instrumentation and complex analytical methods to isolate, identify and quantify components of biological and other samples to support Research and Development activities or Cargill manufacturing sites.
You will apply innovative technology to help drive the development of new products and improved processes for the food, feed, and industrial segments of Cargill. Key Accountabilities
Uses a variety of laboratory instrumentation and complex analytical methods to isolate, identify and quantify components of biological matrices and other samples.
Preparation of analytical samples, standards, and properly disposes of waste according to EHS guidelines in a high safety focused environment.
Stays up-to-date with business trends and conducts root cause analysis of business problems to draw conclusions about business operations and suggest changes or improvements.
Executes sample loading, processing and chromatographic trouble shooting prior to effectively communicate results to diverse scientific teams.
Identifies and provides resolution in analytical instrumentation maintenance.
Prepares technical reports based on the interpretation of analyzed data.
May present at conferences and publish in technical journals.
Minimum qualifications :
Masters (+ 3 years experience) or PhD in applicable science (chemistry, biochemistry).
Hand-on experience with LC / MS instruments, such as Q Exactive (orbitrap), quadupole time-of-fight (QTOF), and triple quadrupole systems.
Experience in chromatography (multiple detection systems) techniques (HPLC and GC)
Experience with Chromatography Data Systems (CDSs), such as Chromeleon, Empower, OpenLab, MassHunter,
Experience with mass spectrometry
Ability to analyze results and use this analysis in assisting the development or validation of a method.
Demonstrated understanding of the implications of other disciplines on technical problems.
Effective communication skills (written and oral).
The ability to identify and resolve a problem.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks between projects or assignments.
The ability to rapidly acquire, understand and communicate new information.
Must be proficient in written and spoken English
Preferred qualifications :
Experience with Chromeleon software
Experience with Compound Discoverer, Excalibur, MassHunter, and / or MassLynx software
Experience with non-targeted analysis
Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
Demonstrated ability to design experiments for delegation of tasks / experiments.
Ability to lead the development and validation of new analytical techniques.
Ability to utilize work plans or other tools to reduce project complexities. Decisions must be made on planning, direction and implementation of the project often in ambiguous situations where all needed information is not available.
Interaction with other team members to leverage capability and insure effective and efficient problem solving. Interaction with clients including other researchers, business unit managers, scientists and engineers is routine.
