DataCamp is looking for a Psychometrician and Data Scientist who will work on our adaptive skill assessment product. This product, called DataCamp Signal, uses IRT modeling to measure the proficiency level of every DataCamp user in various aspects of the data science workflow.
To date, over 185,000 assessments have been completed by our users, growing rapidly.
This role reports to the CTO and has the power to shape DataCamp's long-term success by improving the statistical underpinnings of one of our most important products.
A critical part of your job will be to stay up-to-date with the latest research in psychometric testing and apply this knowledge to our internal products.
You will be evangelizing your findings by writing research papers and speaking at conferences.
Additionally, you will be working closely with our product, content and engineering teams to improve the quality, reliability (test-retest, split-half, etc) and validity of every assessment.
Improve the statistical underpinnings of the assessments by using the latest research on IRT modelling, ELO ranking, Glicko ratings, etc.
Help us build the best possible product for measuring data science proficiency.
Work together with engineers, content creators and product managers to help prioritize and execute the product roadmap for our assessment product.
Publish high-impact papers and blog posts on psychometric testing using our data.
Communicate your important analyses through (internal) knowledge articles and dashboards that help us improve the quality, reliability, and validity of our assessment.
Be a thought leader on data science and psychometric testing by evangelizing your research at conferences.
The ideal candidate
Has a Ph.D. or equivalent in psychometric testing.
Has strong R / Python programming skills.
Has published multiple research papers and given multiple talks.
Is a critical thinker that will challenge the team with critical questions and a data-driven mindset.
Is an independent thinker who can work with limited guidance.
Is comfortable in a small, intense, and high growth startup environment.
