The working environment
We are looking for an economist with a specialinterest in studies into the feasibility and financing of major infrastructureprojects (for public and private clients), in socio-
economic impact assessmentsand in policy consultancy.
You will join a multidisciplinary team specializing in policy support work onmobility, regional and urban development, energy and the environment.
You will work on major projects, including projects that might involveshort-term assignments abroad.
Your main mission is to support,through your expertise in economics, your management in achieving itsobjectives mainly in the preparation, execution and evaluation of the budgetprogram for transport infrastructure.
Your role will be identifying, securing, launching and managing (parts of) projects. These will examine the economic feasibility, financing and contracting (legal and insurance financial impact) as well as the impacts of plans for regional, territorial and urban development, execution of major infrastructures, or studying the economic aspects of strategic policy decisions.
Usually this implies engaging with and managing complex stakeholder relations as well;
You will define, set up and manage an economics matrix for different simulations, check parametrization, and set up results interpretation.
You will join a multidisciplinary team which supports national and international clients. These are typically public or public-
private-partnerships, and increasingly fully private. The team’s work focuses on the desirability, feasibility, impacts, financing and execution of major infrastructure projects in the areas above;
You will act as a senior expert in your domain in and / or manage - a large variety of projects and studies within Tractebel and the ENGIE group, some of which are major international projects.
Occasionally this may involve short-term assignments abroad;
Depending on experience and opportunities you may also be requested to contribute to Policy Studies.
You hold a Master's degree in a quantitative Economics discipline e.g. Applied Economics, Business Engineering, Management etc.
Candidates with backgrounds in Engineering, Architecture, Urbanism and related disciplines may be eligible as well, if their CVs clearly show Economics qualifications and experience;
You have around 10 years of experience as economist with preferably a proven experience with project development & financing, as well as project leadership OR a proven experience inside a major contractor company OR in the banking sector.
A specific background and experience in at least one of the following themes is considered a strong advantage : urban, territorial & regional development, transport & mobility, public-
private-partnerships & concessions, climate, sustainability & environment, energy, water ;
Prior experience or studies in transport & mobility and / or spatial & regional economics is a strong advantage;
Experience of working on studies or execution for (international) public institutions would be an advantage;
You have excellent social and communication skills, you lead presentations and discussions with ease;
You are fluent in English . Knowledge of other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese, German) is considered beneficial;
