The Public Policy team manages these conversations - sharing information about the company's products and activities, responding to queries from politicians and regulators, and providing input into the development of regulation policy on the internet sector.
We are looking for a superb policy manager who can combine a passion for internet services like Facebook with a deep knowledge of the political and regulatory dynamics.
The Position also requires a detailed knowledge of EU regulatory topics as well as political actors and institutions in the Benelux region, especially Belgium.
Successful applicants will become part of a team that is dealing with some of the most interesting public policy challenges of our times including privacy, safety and security, freedom of expression, the impact of the internet on economic growth, and new opportunities for democratic engagement.
This role will be based in Belgium. Required Skills : 1. Develop and execute strategic approach to achieve company goals in public policy 2.
Monitor legislation and regulatory matters affecting Facebook in EU member CE countries and advise the company with respect to policy challenges 3.
Represent Facebook in meetings with government officials and elected members and at public events 4. Develop public policy positions with other team members at Facebook 5.
Build coalitions with other organizations to advance policy goals of Facebook 6. Create innovative programmes for outreach to policy makers on the opportunities offered by Facebook 7.
Communicate Facebook's positions in public presentations and with media 8. Advise Facebook teams on public policy matters to guide development of products, services and policies Minimum Qualifications : 9.
A degree or advanced degree in a related field 10. Experience working on relevant policy issues - candidates with EU, government, politics and industry experience strongly preferred 11.
Full fluency in at least one, but preferably more Benelux languages (French, Dutch, German), and superb written and spoken English required 12.
Excellent project management skills 13. Ability to manage multiple project simultaneously and to deal with a variety of topics related to internet regulation 14.
Familiarity with working with politicians and government officials 15. Familiarity with EU institution, and regulatory processes 16.
Familiarity with non-EU member CE countries (including Russia) 17. A passionate belief in the social benefits of the Internet and Facebook in particular 18.
An ability to work with cross-functional teams from a wide range of disciplines 19. Excellent communication skills for both small meetings and large events 20.
A flexible mindset that thrives in a fast-moving environment with a strong do-it-yourself culture 21. A track record of writing and delivering position papers, articles, speeches, and presentations on relevant topics 22.
